susan feldman
A fine art photographer since 1992, Susan's first teacher was Gerda Mathan, a Bay Area master of black and white photography. Gerda taught Susan not only how to master the tools of photography, but also inspired her to open even more to all of the beauty before and sometimes behind us.

Throughout her daily life, whether traveling abroad or around her mountain home and studio in Canyon, California, Susan always carries her cameras with her to capture the transient beauty she finds in seascapes, botanicals, cities and nature. In 2000, she studied Polaroid image transfer and SX70 manipulation process from photographers Kathleen Carr and Cynthia Johnson-Bianchetta. This intuitive method of transferring slides to watercolor paper using Polaroid films has resonated with her vocation, bringing a vibrant sense of time and process to her rich imagery. She is a current contributor to Inquiring Mind, a Vipassana community publication.

Susan has generously shared some of her images with us for this site as well as being our action photographer for the "day in the park" snaps you see here, with our friends, dogs and jewelry. More of her photography can be seen in our photo gallery or at her website.
